Kaizen events are deployed as an efficient method to make dramatic changes to the workarea such as when creating workcells, setup reductions and other waste elimination efforts. Kaizen, thought of as daily improvement in the workarea, is elevated during events to include cross functional teams with authority to make significant change to the work environment. A kaizen event starts with a review of relevant lean principles and a planning phase that includes process stakeholders. Planning phase deliverables include definition of scope, targets for improvement and the implementation plan.
